Pattaya – ‘Cheap Charlie Brit’ Resident suffers broken arm over 40 baht parking fee

Via: Pattaya One

1

In the early hours of Sunday, a 70 year old British resident of Pattaya suffered a suspected broken arm following an altercation with a car park attendant who was unable to collect a 40 Baht parking fee from him.

The incident occurred at a car park opposite the Diana Dragon Apartments in Soi Buakhao just before 2.30am, which was under the control of Khun Tosapon aged 19. Mr. Charlie Hayward reportedly parked his Bronze Chevrolet car in the car park and left for a short moment to purchase something and then returned to his car.

Khun Tosapon claims he approached Mr. Hayward and requested the 40 Baht which was not forthcoming. He further explained that Mr. Hayward attempted to drive away which enraged the parking attendant who picked up a piece of wood and struck Mr. Hayward’s car.

Mr. Hayward stopped his vehicle and confronted the attendant who then struck the elderly man across his arm. Police arrived and arrested the teenager who was later charged with assault. Mr. Hayward was sent to Hospital and is currently recovering from his injuries.

Personal thought:

Khun Tosapon was in the wrong to hit Charlie and/or his car.

But it was also wrong to rip-off the kid for 40-baht ($1.23USD).

Pattaya – knife attack leaves American seriously injured

Via: Pattaya One

1

Late on Wednesday Night a 52 year old American cyclist was left with serious flesh wounds after he was subjected to a frenzied knife (a butcher knife? yeah maybe) attack by a motorcyclist following a minor road accident involving the pair in Central Pattaya.

The incident occurred in Soi Xzyte off Pattaya Third Road, just after 10.30pm where Khun Prasit aged 29 works as a part-time masseur, when he is not at his full-time job as a butcher. Mr. Daniel O’Neill from America was reportedly on his bicycle and was struck by Khun Prasit who was conducting a U-turn maneuver so he could drive home after finishing his shift at the massage shop.

His motorbike came into contact with Mr. O’Neill’s bicycle and although no significant damage was caused to the bike or Mr. O’Neill, angry words were exchanges which enraged Khun Prasi. He produced a knife and attacked the American who was left with a number of slash wounds causing a significant loss of blood.

Mr. O’Neill was sent to Banglamung Hospital while Khun Prasit, who was accompanied by his Wife, later handed himself into Pattaya Police Station where he allegedly confessed to the attack.

Khun Prasit was charged with assault and awaits further legal procedures while Mr. O’Neill remains in Hospital for now as he recuperates following the violent attack.

Personal thought:

Even if you are right, as Mr. ONeill was clearly was, don’t get into an argument with a Thai.

Q: why?

A: There’s a good chance he might be armed with a knife or gun.

Q: What if KNOW he doesn’t have a knife or gun?

A: Because there is a good chance 6-8 Thais around who will join the argument; and you are libel to have the krap kicked out of you.

WALK AWAY!

Pattaya – Wheelchair Way Construction Completed

1

Soi Panead chang alley, Pattaya Daily News reporters had inspected a wheelchair way which had just been finished. The wheelchair route is on the left hand side of the road and is about 1 metre in width. Also the road has been raised in certain places where they can cross the road. The one crossing is opposite the North Pattaya junction.

Upon inspecting the wheel chair route which has just been it was still dangerous (yeah, you think?) some areas near construction sites and where people had parked their cars on the route which has caused the wheel chair users to cross the road in very dangerous areas.

Mr.Suppaluk Wongyapeng a 25 year old wheel chair user said he had used the new wheel chair way and had lived in Pattaya for 3 years. Previously wheel chair users had a lot of difficulty moving around the streets because some side streets had a lot of cars and motorbikes parked in them.

HOWEVER, the officers had constructed the new wheelchair way but some people still drove too fast and parked their cars on the wheelchair way.

personal thought:

After nine-years living in Thailand, I am convinced of the following:

1. IF you want to be handicapped, walk on a ‘handicap sidewalk’.

2. IF you want to get your ass run over, ride your wheelchair on the ‘wheelchair way’.

personal thought:

For the last few years, the fine was 100 THB. At 500 THB it might (???) be more effective, but I doubt it.
