The Tourism Department reveals the results of a survey of Thai tourism saying that problems of illegal tour operators and taxi drivers needs to be resolved quickly in order to improve the tourism industry.

According to a survey conducted by 5,000 local and foreign tourists around Bangkok, the Tourism Department Director-General, Surapol Sripan says the survey indicated that the problems that have most damaged the image of the Thai tourism industry are cheating by taxi and tuk tuk drivers as well as overcharging foreigners.

Regarding current problems that are being reported to the Tourism Bureau, Surapol says there are many illegal tour operators promoting tour packages on their websites.

my thoughts:

1. First of all, I don’t think you can do much about ‘websites”.

2. The problem with illegal taxi drivers is systemic inside ALL the Thai airports, often INSIDE the baggage area; and I would suggest the Tourism Department Director-General, Surapol Sripan, begin there.

3. Perhaps the Tourism Department could coordinate ‘the crackdown’ with ‘Por Por Chor’?

I’m sorry, bad joke.
